Dancing Classrooms uses a curriculum-based teaching approach to achieve social awareness and build self-esteem. Students are taught the vocabulary of various contemporary social dances in a classroom setting. Each class in the series introduces new steps, reinforcing what has been previously learned through practice and repetition.
THE RESIDENCY
Dancing Classrooms targets grades 4, 5, 8, 11 & 12. The program is a 10 week residency, culminating in a show where every child performs. Audience members can include parents, the local community, lower grades, and school staff.
All students are then invited to continue their dance education at our DC Academy, which is held on weekends at our home studio in Herald Square. The cost to attend is minimal.
